Lesson Plans
There is a Flying Start to Literacy Lesson Plan for each pair of student books.
They are presented on cards that can easily be stored with the Student books to ensure ready access for teachers.
The Lesson plans provide teaching suggestions for each pair of books and include Before, During and
After Reading activities.
After children have read both books, a synthesizing activity focuses on the key concept in both books.
Lesson plans integrate all aspects of oral language, comprehension, phonological and phonemic awareness,
phonics, vocabulary development, fluency and writing.
Each Lesson plan includes observation checkpoints throughout, ongoing assessment and follow up activities.
